Sealing day prep checklist

A few simple steps before we arrive help everything clean, seal and cure the right way.

Thanks for booking with Paver Sealing Vegas. Run through this list the day before your appointment. Questions? Call or text 702-701-0388.

The day before

  • Move vehicles off the driveway, and park on the street away from the work area. If a car stays in the garage, plan on it staying put until the driveway is ready for traffic.
  • Clear the surface. Move furniture, planters, grills, trash cans and decor off the pavers to somewhere they won't be in the way.
  • Garage doors that close onto the pavers: let us know when we schedule so we can plan around them.
  • Close windows and doors. Cleaning includes rinsing nearby walls, doors and slider tracks. Check tracks and sills for water afterward.
  • Move landscaping service a day or two. Mowers and leaf blowers kick dust onto fresh sealer.
  • Weather: we watch the forecast. If monsoon storms or high winds are expected, we'll reach out to reschedule.

Pool decks

  • Turn off water features such as waterfalls, sheer descents and fountains.
  • Remove any automatic pool cleaner and its hose.

On sealing day

  • Turn off sprinklers and drip lines that spray onto the pavers, and keep them off until 48 hours after sealing.
  • Keep kids and pets out of the work area until the next day.
  • You don't need to be home. We just need gate access and an outdoor water spigot.
  • Summer jobs often start early in the morning, before the hottest part of the day.

Cooler or cloudy winter days can slow curing, so allow a little extra time.

  • Skip rubber-backed mats in full sun. They can leave marks on the sealer.
  • Use pads or trays under metal furniture legs and potted plants to prevent rust rings and mineral stains.
  • Aim sprinkler heads away from the pavers where you can. Our hard water leaves white spots over time.

What if it rains?

Don't worry. We use water-based sealers, which don't turn white from moisture the way cheap solvent sealers can. A passing shower after the sealer has had time to set usually isn't a problem. If a storm hits soon after we finish, give us a call and we'll come take a look.

Repairs come first

Sunken, shifted or broken pavers should be fixed before sealing day, since sealing locks everything in place. Not sure what needs attention? Send us a photo and we'll tell you.
